protection protocol

Protection Protocol

Transparency from LIEs, including:
  • Cooperation with any investigation being done by the team created by the protection protocol

  • Checks and balances - beginnings of negotiating for an oversight committee consisting of Duplicity natives, LIEs, and player characters (to be developed further later, this would just lay the groundwork of talking about it)

Protection from forced breach of contract. Under this law, all contracted pairs in Duplicity are protected from being forced into violation of any stipulation in their contract. Any persons or entities who knowingly or unknowingly put a contracted pair in a situation that forces them into an act that violates a stipulation in their contract will be prosecuted according to the following classifications (from least to most serious):
  • Infraction II: unintentional forced breach of contract resulting in minor physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as a minor, short-term isolated impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Infractions are a petty offense generally resulting in citation or a fine.

  • Infraction I: intentional forced breach of contract resulting in minor physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as a minor, short-term isolated impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Infraction I is also a petty offense, but generally results in a steeper citation or a fine due to the intention behind the act.

  • Misdemeanor II: unintentional forced breach of contract resulting in moderate physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as moderate, medium-term, widespread impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Misdemeanors are a criminal offense more serious than infractions and less serious than felonies, and can result in a fine, community service, time in the People Zoo, or other related punishments.

  • Misdemeanor I: intentional forced breach of contract resulting in moderate physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as moderate, medium-term, widespread impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Misdemeanor I is also a criminal offense more serious than infractions and less serious than felonies, but generally results in a punishment due to the intention behind the act.

  • Felony II: unintentional forced breach of contract resulting in major physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as serious, long-term, widespread impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Felonies are the most serious class of offense and can result in extensive jail-time or other similar punishment.

  • Felony I: intentional forced breach of contract resulting in major physical harm, emotional distress, or psychological stress. This is further defined as serious, long-term, widespread impact on the physical, psychological, aesthetic, social or cultural health and well-being of the Contracted persons. Felony I is the most serious class of offense and can result in even extensive jail-time or other similar punishment due to the intention behind the act.

Base level of protection during the 3 month grace period for LIERs to find a contract
  • This base level of protection assumes that prohibition of anything causing permanent physical, mental, or emotional harm is “standard” in a contract, as it is a Dominant’s duty to guide and protect the well-being of their Submissive

  • Violation of these standards can be considered breach of contract for those in the grace period

  • This protection will still be considerably less than what’s provided for contracted pairs, to have further incentive for contracting (ie: actual contract violations tend to get investigated quicker/more thoroughly, more things count as a contract violation, etc)

A team or coordinated group of individuals (including PCs and NPCs) is created for the specific purpose of ensuring the protection protocol is being followed, as well as remaining on call should a future incident like Fort Harmony happen.
  • Team will include investigators, fighters, medics, etc. It can include reserve members who will be called in only for emergencies/big events as well as those who help enforce the protection protocol on a day to day basis

  • Permission for people in danger to defend themselves and others in danger (as long as there is reasonable suspicion to believe something was breaking their contract or went against the basic assumed protection). This includes permission for Submissives to defend themselves and others even against Dominants, and includes protecting others whether or not they're contracted to them.

  • Protection for any Submissives on the team to be able to act accordingly during their daily duties - providing the Submissives have the permission of their contracted Dominant, if they have one, and are under the supervision of the Dominants on the team.

  • On a day to day basis, team will coordinate with Duplicity police to investigate reported breaches of contract, stop breaches in progress, provide base level of protection for uncontracted. (Or freelance doing the same thing.)

  • Should another event like Fort Harmony happen, it will be all hands on deck and a course of action will be decided and submitted to the mods
